The climb follows the Shira Rout, the longest rout of the many routs that lead to the top of this mountain. The location, elevation and geological history of Mount Kilimanjaro make it a very interesting climb. Mount Kilimanjaro is a volcano located just south of the Equator, putting it in the Tropical climate zone. The climb starts at an elevation of just over 6,000 feet above sea level, were you climb through a thick Tropical Rain Forest. As you go up in elevation the vegetation zones are changing, as a response to the change of climate zones, which go from Tropical to Temperate to Tundra at the top.
At 19,340 feet above sea level you are over looking the active ash pit of the Reusch Crater surrounded by glaciers.
Next segment of the adventure trip is a five-day Safari trip, visiting some of the most famous and beautiful parks in East Africa. During these five days you will see lots of wild life, and some very interesting human and natural landscapes. In mainland Tanzania there are over 120 tribal groups. The region of Northern Central Tanzania is part of the Maasai Mara tribe region. A fascinating tribe, which, still follows a very traditional way of life. This region is also part of the Great Rift Valley.
The last segment of the trip is spent on Zanzibar, an Island off the coast of Tanzania. Here in Zanzibar we will spend our time scuba diving the Tropical Reefs off the Island and exploring the coast line and some of the interior of the Island too.
